Is this art?

After stuffing your faces on thanksgiving, kick back a little and contemplate what is art? Here is your challenge. Tell me about the artist, and yes this was displayed as a work of art. He is known for representing a certain art movement that this work is associated with. Tell me about it! Have a good turkey day!

Ode to the hand turkey

Ah yes, the good old hand turkey, who could forget this paltry elementary art project.

Nice work Alana!

Good job Alana for correctly guessing who this artist was. Richard Diebenkorn, number 79 from his "Ocean Park" series. He was part of a vibrant San Francisco bay area art scene in the 60's and 70's. See also David Park, Elmer Bischoff, and Wayne Thiebaud. Nice!

Who painted this?

Hey everybody here is your first challenge. The first person to tell me who painted this will get a prize! (You can't ask Derning!)

Welcome to SSHS NAHS

Hey everybody, just wanted you all to check out the new blog. This can be our way to connect, and discuss when we are not meeting. I am excited to be working with a talented, and dedicated group of artists. I hope we can use this forum to contemplate, percolate, and agitate our collective thoughts on art. Feel free to add anything to the mix. PS, art is cool.
